Artist Statement

Growing up in NSW, as daughter of a cowboy I was led to move to the Kimberley in Western Australia to work on cattle stations straight from school. Photography became my journal as I always had a camera in my pocket on a horse or in the yards. Living this outback life for eleven years inspired my passion for photography in showcasing the landscapes, action and people that surrounded me.

The series I have created is a reflection of the competitive sport of rodeo, a passion that has inspired a new generation of cowboys & cowgirls across the world. I especially wanted to show strong young women in what has predominantly been a man’s sport. This was my youth, working and living in a primarily male environment whilst maintaining femininity and strength.
